[03] West DPS 'Role Star Power' (til June Joust)
Before You Read: 'Role Star Power' is unofficial. It is just a time killer regarding OWL.
I would be grateful for any feedback.
It's the time! (for controversy :)
Unlike Tank and Support, dividing DPS players into Hitscans - Projectiles (or Main - Off) is vague these days. So I've just separated them with West and East.
Caution
It's up to June Joust, so mind the gap if you've watched recent Summer Showdowns. I'll upload the next updated post as soon as SS tournament ends.
Past Role Stars
2019 - Corey, Sinatraa, Haksal, Dding / 2020 - Sparkle, Ans, Carpe, Fleta, Lip
Used Variables
Basic Model - Final Blows, Eliminations, Hero Damage, Solo Kills, Deaths, Winners
Adj Model - All above & First Blood Rate (FBR) & First Blooded Rate (FBdR)
Past Stars Recap
They were just ones who 'shoot well and kill well'. But let's go deep. In rough average of Past Stars:: Elim. - 9th, Final Blows - 14th, Damage - 14th, Low Death - 16th, FBR - 17th, Seven (out of nine) won the tournament, etc. If you looked at Spt. models, the average rank here seems to be not impactful. But as I didn't classify the DPS role, it is natrual that the figure increases comparatively.
Good News for DPS users - Mean (low) FBdR rank is 26th. Compared to other variables, it looks quite insignifcant. So even though you are continuously dying first in teamfights as Tracer, you'd better rationalize yourself as "I am being impactful now". {Caution: I won't take charge of any profanities you will be hearing from your team}

Analysis (Stats are ranked among West only)
Doha & Sparkle [5th Elim / 3th Elim / May Melee Winners]
The E.M. duo who had won Gauntlet back in 2019. Whoever plays Mei-Echo-Reaper, it does not matter. Sparkle has proved that he is now A-Tier Tracer and Doha has shown untouchable Sombra which was his symbol back in Contenders era. Along with Dragons, they've had the toughest matches only to achieve vanilla stats. But Winners' Premium gave them a good amount of points.
Decay [1st Final Blows, 1st Elim, 1st Low Death, 3rd FBR]
Decarry is back! Not having to play Zarya this year, he is back to his role. He showed great Tracer in May and Reaper in June. With overwhelming stats, he took the third place stably.
Kevster & Birdring [2nd Elim, 2nd Low Death, 1st Low FBdR / 1st Final Blows, 4th Elim]
As Kevster finally joined the team house (and unveiled the mask), they have become stronger along with Mirror. But it seems strange when adjusted rating of Kev. drops by 800 points. It is because his playstyle is relatively defensive. His both FBR and FBdR stats are low. Adj-model loves the aggressive style as past stars were offensive players. As far as FBR is high, players actually do not have to mind FBdR.
Pelican & Kai & Edison [1st Damage, 5th Low Death / 4th Final Blows, 3rd Solo Kills, 2nd FBR / 2nd Damage]
Atlanta has the best DPS line up tbh. Looking back at 2020, Pelican was one of the greatest projectiles in Contenders, Ksp made Valiant become Top 5 in West, and Edison suffered a lot in Atlanta-Ruined securing bunch of POTM. The most scary thing is that they have separated the role perfectly. It is so true that the DPS trio paved the airway to Hawaii (feat. Gator's intense hugs).
Happy & Danteh [3rd Final Blows, 4th Solo Kills, 4th Low Death / 6th Final Blows]
A Houston duo only powerful in regular matches in May & June. Both players are doing great but the point differnce is quite huge. I guess it is due to the defensive team style. Houston really loves the comp. with Rein-Sig or Orisa-Sig plus Hitscan and it would be the reason Happy has taken more spotlights throughout the season.
Striker [5th Final Blows, 4th Damage, 5th FBR]
A 2020 Grand Final MVP. For 2021, Striker took a Hitscan role which is not his major and he still managed to get high stats. With Adj. model where he gets another 300 points, we can realize that he had been the heart of Shock.
That's why the future of Shock seems so gloomy with him gone. Even though Ans has returned, the worry continues. Can Shock play matches in Autumn? {Nero - 5th Damage / Glister - 3rd Solo Kills & 1st FBR}
Yaki & Bqb [3rd Solo Kills, 3rd Low Death / 6th FBR]
A duo that was extremely scary last year which means they aren't this season. Until May Melee, the duo was still great winning an additional point in Hawaii. However, Mayhem fell drastically from June. As Overwatch is a team game, we cannot blame the DPS duo. But the impact from DPS duo is really hard to be seen these days. Yaki still has shown some memorable moments with 'cam reactions and teabags'. But considering his really low FBR in the league, we'd better doubt his nutritious impact.
Heesu [9th FBR]
Coming into Defiant with KDG and absorbing good skills from Carpe, Heesu is now a key player for the team. He especially carried the team in the 'David and Goliath match' against Reign in May. With Toronto being mediocre these days, Heesu seems to have a decent rating.
